At the Child Development Institute (CDI), we provide therapy for children living with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or neuro-developmental delays, and training and research for families, educators and health professionals. The CDI is located at Innovation Campus within the University of Wollongong.
Our approach when it comes to working towards a world where children with ASD can participate fully in their communities, is the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM). This is an evidence-based intervention which have been specifically designed for preschool children with ASD.
At the CDI, we consider the ESDM as the most effective therapy for children with ASD and their families, health professionals and educators. The ESDM is play and routine-based and begins with child choice, which increases their motivation to participate. We consider this important because the more motivated a child is the faster their rate of learning is.

This will also take place between 10am and 12pm each Monday and will be delivered by our Clinical Director and Certified ESDM Trainer Liz Aylward. This workshop is most helpful for giving parents the strategies to deliver the ESDM in every day moments and daily routines in the home.
